Our Legacy

  • The Aditya Birla Group forayed into the acrylic business with the setting up of Thai Acrylic Fibre Co. Ltd (TAF), Thailand in 1989. In March 2006 we set up the Alexandria Fibre Co. (AFCO) as the first and only acrylic fibre plant in Africa and the Middle East region. The products from both the units, marketed under the name of Birlacril™ include high quality dyed and raw white tow, top and fibre for various end-uses such as sweaters, blankets, carpets, soft toys and awnings. The products are sold in more than 40 countries covering all continents.

We have always been laser sharp in our quality control and innovation and driven by the compelling vision of becoming the world leaders in acrylic fibre production. With access to world-class facilities, cutting-edge technology and ably supported by our state-of-the-art R&D centre in our plant in Saraburi, Thailand, with a current capacity of 150,000 tonnes per year (TAF & AFCO), we are now the 5th largest acrylic fibre producers in the world. We have definite growth plans to ramp up our capacities significantly in both places by 2015. Today, we export 85% of all our products to countries in Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and the Middle East.

  • With over 30 different varieties of acrylic fibre, we serve both the commodity and the specialty high-end markets. Our products enjoy worldwide recognition. The final products made with Birlacril™ fibres are marketed by a number of prestigious brands in Europe and America.

Highest standards of quality, reliability and constant efforts to upgrade our products and services to
meet most stringent customer requirements have enabled us to achieve leadership in the industry.
As we stride into the future with initiatives, we have rebranded ourselves, staying true to our core
values and our relentless pursuit of excellence. Now, we reinforce our brand promise to deliver the
utmost comfort with innovative top-of-the-line products that meet and surpass the expectations of
    our customers across the world.
